Teddy bear sweater and "no dye lot" yarn
January 26, 2010 at 5:08:06 PM
After a few discussions of "no dye lot" yarn here and in wizdmzchyld's fantastic
Knitting, 2 stick knitting, machine knitting Circle
and how these "no dye lot" colors often don't match, I contacted the manufacturer of the yarn I'll be using for the sweater. (Not that the teddy bear was complaining, but I thought the company would like to know, in case nobody else had told them.)
It seems their original supplier went out of business, and the new one hasn't been supplying reliable dye lots.
And so I wonder...what's the future of "no dye lot" yarns? Since the discussion started way back in wizdmzchyld's Circle, obviously I'm not the only one with this trouble. Now, the manufacturer was nice enough to send me two replacement skeins, but now I don't trust these yarns and will always look first at the label to be sure they match.
Thoughts, anyone?

HI, it's taken me a loooooong time to figure out that the little colored bars on the left mean there are new messages. So sorry to be late responding to this. Gad sometimes!
Anyway, I have decided for future reference NEVER to begin a project again unless I buy all the yarn necessary at one go. Either that or just pretend that I meant the garment to look that way. ;-)

Charlene,
LOL...and ARGH! I know exactly what you mean. It was so nice to think there might be a shortcut with the "no dye lot" yarns, but now I won't chance it. I think you have the best idea of all, to buy everything at one time. (And check those dye lots...
