What exactly is ?
November 27, 2009 at 7:47:36 AM
Hi I knit two sweaters a couple of months ago (both with 2 needles) and wonder if there's a clearly explained list of knitting terms somewhere. The lists I've found so far haven't explained some of the terms like yo very well.
Thanks
Charlene
P. S. I've always just wrapped the yarn around the needle twice for a y/o

I'm sure there's a list out there somewhere. Maybe one of the other nice members on here will know.
As for "yo"-- unless the pattern says otherwise, it means wrapping the yarn around the needle once.
I'll bet there's some videos out there also, that would show how to wrap the yarn. For instance, it's a little different if the YO is in between a knit stitch and a purl stitch.

Thank you. Been knitting since I was five, but never traveled much into anything that was very complicated.

Charlene,
Good news...we've just opened up a Multimedia section, where you can search for videos on exactly what you want. Go to the "Where To?" menu and choose "Multimedia." If you click on "Instructional & Informational," you'll see a search box, where you can type the words yarn over.
HTH!

Yay! (I never did know how that is spelled). This site gets better all the time. I'm so glad you opened this up. I'm enjoying this very much, the royalty of the chat lists. ;-)

That's so good to hear!
IMO, it helps tremendously to have good stitching information at one's fingertips, plus other stitchers to consult with.

Yay and thank you. I have alway done just plain or purl knitting. Once I took it up as a serious hobby, with the 260 and the LK150, I started really learning what's possible with two sticks.
The link is appreciated.
