My intro
October 9, 2011 at 4:49:21 PM
Hi everyone
Well - I used to use forums a lot, but with the rise of Facebook a lot of the ones I used to use have almost died a death. Recently I've got into crafting again, the main emphasis (for the moment) being on knitting. I've enjoyed trying to finish a patchwork blanket I started about 10 years ago, as well as smaller squares as part of a group to create a blanket for the women's refuge (saw the idea in Simply Knitting magazine). I'm now in the middle of 5 weeks off work after an ankle operation so am making the most of being laid up and knitting away! My latest creation is a laptop bag with the glee logo on the front. I was having problems with an online pattern creator and someone on ravelry mentioned this site - came on, used the tool and voila! Glee laptop bag is on its way to being done again. (so thanks)
I'm a 28 year old teacher and I live in SW England with my partner and 3 cats, like music, camping, reading and crafts.

Akasa,
You're very welcome! We're so glad the Free Pattern Wizard could help with your laptop bag!
It's wonderful to hear of it being put to good use...thank you so much for posting! We know people are using the Wizard, but we really love to hear the stories behind it!
It's excellent that you're getting some good knitting time in while you're unable to work. I've always felt knitting is very healing. And you get something nice out of it when you're done!
Three cats...fantastic! You're in good company. Many here are cat lovers (you can't tell I'm one, though, can you? LOL!). So how do you knit around three of them? Our kitty loves it when I knit...she likes to bat at the yarn and sometimes bite it. LOL, actually, she seems to like all crafts...she'll bat at yarn when I crochet, too, and twice has tried to bite the beaded cat box I'm currently working on. I can't imagine three of them when knitting...but otherwise...it sounds like kitty heaven!

I'm a beading, knitting and crochet addict. If that means I'm admitting I have a problem, then I admit to nothing. Please refrain from helping me.

Thanks for your reply
The youngest cat, Dio, loves the wool and quite often will sit on my lap while I'm knitting. He'll start by batting the wool and/or the needles and then he'll settle down a bit.
The other 2 used to play with the wool but now they're a little older they don't bother themselves with it too much - almost like they're 'above' such kittenish behaviour
Lovely site you have here

Akasa,
Thank you...we're really glad you like the site.
Watch for more features and changes as we overhaul many of the areas and add fun new things! And please suggest anything you'd like to see.
When you're finished with the laptop bag, please feel free to post pictures in a photo album, so we can properly drool!
That's too funny about the older cats being "above" kittenish behavior! LOL, our girl definitely isn't a kitten, but she just loves to bat at (or bite) things like threads and yarns. She eyes my thread warily while I'm beading, and when knitting, actively goes chasing after anything snakelike and moving, particularly the working yarn end. One of her favorite toys is a shoelace. Dangle that in front of her, and she'll happily play for hours!
Now if she could just learn how to knit...
