New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn!  If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you.  This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic!  (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)

New!  The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

Welcome to Stitchboard!  Feel free to sit and stay awhile.  Check out our new Premier features.  In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request!  We have many more features planned, too!  Laughing

Hello!  I'm totally new to the site.  I want to crochet a blanket with the MIT beaver.  I found a picture and have been working on this site for hours to try to get a clear picture without stray lines, but the beaver defined.  I'm struggling and desperately need help.  I also wanted to pic my colors, but I couldn't figure out how. Any help would be appreciated!!!  I'm totally frustrated!

Amber,

Welcome! Smile

I'm not sure I'm understanding what you're asking, so feel free to correct me if I have this all wrong!

As of now the freePatternWizard's word charts assume you already know how to crochet, so they simply reflect the colors in your pattern. A graphghan pattern would technically be repetitive across the row: sc, sc, sc, sc, sc..., so other than starting chains there's really no difference in the instructions. You wouldn't have an instruction like sc, ch1, sc because a chain in between two sc stitches would throw off the pattern. You'll want to crochet solid scs in each row, consistently, or making a pattern wouldn't really work.

Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding what you're asking. Smile

ASPowell,

I'm guessing you're inquiring about making larger patterns, not commenting on someone else's request?  Smile

As of November 1, 2015, the 300 stitches has now become a premier service, with the introductory price of $2.99* for a year.

You can read about it here:
/community/2.0/message.php?t=1096&c=1&b=29

After our beta test concluded, we were going to simply do away with the 300 stitch option, but when we realized it was popular and people found this a good intermediate step, we reinstated it as originally planned upon completion of the beta test - as a premier feature.

Here is the subscription area, where you can read more about this feature:

i burst out laughing cos when she phoned him and said that shay and i were opening our cards and gifts at the time

Kelly,

Welcome!  Smile

Hmm, let me consult my crystal ball.  I'm seeing you giving a lot of handmade gifts in your future!  Wink

I, too, am possessed by crafting.  It's a sickness of which I don't want to be cured, and I'm sure you're feeling the same way.  Laughing

Now, if you'd like to show some photos of your work, we'd love to see them...drooling on keyboards is acceptable here, so we do suggest keeping absorbent materials handy!
