New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

I would love to see and show my work but have not found gallery yet!
Hi, Calipage.
I see what you're talking about. As we have always posted, we initially did our best to get the colors right for beads, yarn, and floss. Once in a while someone reports an incorrect color but after a few years, there are not as many problems.
I did just scan through the Delica palette of colors and verified that DB1744 is the only one that is entered as nearly black when it should have color. I'll correct this color as soon as I post this message. One other problem we have with bead colors is that there is not really a standard color value from which we can enter into our database. Even bead manufacturers don't have color values by which we can use.
As an example, here are a few different images of DB1744 beads:
These images are from various sources, all showing DB1744. I realize none are close to black but I'm just letting you know that the colors we use in our palettes may or may not be the actual colors you see when you get the beads.
So in answer to your question, it's rare to find a color that's way off in our program (like this particular bead color). It was definitely incorrect in the database and will get corrected immediately.
We also thank everyone who does report incorrect, discontinued, or new colors.
I apologize for this and actually just updated the database. Here are the before and after colors:

Hi again Terry...
Test results continued...
I now reduced the ppi resolution to what it was originally (at 72ppi) and tired the tests again. I used all the same parameters as in the previous message for each test...
Manual choice of 4 colors...at a quick glance it looks exact to the 144 ppi resolution testing...
Rotate image...same results as 144 ppi...
Then the unlimited auto color select. Again same results 55 colors...will probably hold true for the last one as well...we'll see...
And finally, let limited to 4 auto color select full switchboard palette. Same result with errant colors...
Not sure if there is anything else but if you have more suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks again!
Kathy
Welcome!
When you go to make your pattern, please use "standard stitch," which is the standard single crochet. (We do have double crochet in our plans, but don't have it available at this time.) The word chart you're describing is for Tunisian crochet, as that is the only type with a "return" for each row. With standard single crochet, you go from side to side, flipping your piece so you (in effect) go right to left and left to right on alternate rows, even though you technically work in the same direction for each row (flipping it is what changes the direction). With Tunisian crochet you use a special type of hook and you go from right to left and then without flipping the work, you work off the entire row of loops from left to right.
If you make a word pattern in Tunisian crochet when you only want single crochet (e.g., standard), you'll be very disappointed in the results, because it won't match what you're doing.

ArtsyDiva,
Welcome!
That's an
excellent question and I wish I could direct you to such a site!
I'm sorry, I haven't heard of such a thing, though. Please let us know if you do find
something!
