New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

I found a color called chalk board black and it's easier on the eyes...going to give it a shot.
Thanks for reporting this. I'll look into it. I won't be surprised to have to fix a couple more things due to the size of all the server changes.
Sorry about the inconvenience.
The error 500 does point to an issue with the server so I'll get that corrected asap.

Iconstable,
Welcome!
You're correct; the "standard" stitch is single crochet. The reason we call it that is because it's called a double crochet in the UK (isn't that confusing? What we call a double crochet here is a treble crochet in the UK). This way, with one generic term we cover both American and UK terms at the same time. BTW, thanks for clarifying American single crochet, so I would know exactly what you're talking about!
So you're doing perfectly fine...just keep on with the single crochet and that's exactly what you should be doing!
Line,
So glad to hear the pic does it justice. Enjoy it...I have no doubt you'll do something amazing with it!
Are you thinking perhaps a scarf for Mark? December 15th isn't a lot of time, but I think a scarf would be realistic.
The white is just gorgeous, and you could do something sooooo pretty. Even if all you do is use it as a trim, maybe a simple single crochet border on the outside of a scarf. That delightful fuzziness is enough to make anything pop!
You've made some really nice choices and I can't wait to see what you do!
