New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Joan,
Welcome!
Hopefully this will set your mind at ease. A word chart of a graph is just like any normal crochet pattern. You still need a turning chain and you still need to turn your work as you would with any other pattern. A word chart merely assumes you have prior knowledge of crochet, so it doesn't spell everything out; it's there to clarify which colors go where.
So you're not wrong...you're absolutely correct!
Thank you for membership! I'm trying to figure out which to order the blocks up against each other or separated by a spacer and I'm great at crochet but new to doing crochet he as graphghan.
Which would you suggest?
Thanks!
Melanie,
Somehow I don't have trouble anymore..
I don't know what happened.. Haven't done anything.. o.O
Gotta go hunting for some thick wool yarn with a 150 meters lenght pr 50 grams.. It's impossible to find here.. -.-'
Psssh..

Hi mstanley, you may be able to make the graph using
tunisian vertical to accomodate the extra height.
However, regular crochet stitches are a bit wider than
tunisian stitches and I don't know how that would effect the
proportions of your image.
I've not tried
this, so no guarantees. But if I wanted to use the hdc, that's what
I would do.
