New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

wow awesome job
I too have a question along these same lines. I'm wanting to do an afghan project but the brand of yarn that I'll be using is Hobby Lobby's "I love this yarn" collection. When making a pattern, this brand isn't named. Is there a color conversion chart that I can use to choose the proper colors that I'll be needing? Or........... is that anyway to get the "I love this yarn" colors into the pattern making section?
Thanks so much!
Thank you! I figured it out.
Stacy,
You're very welcome! Glad the 150 stitches works for you. Sometimes it's better to work with a larger stitch/fewer stitches, especially if you have a strict time limit.
Here are the two graphics programs. I can't advise on how to use them...I'm almost embarrassed to say I use an ancient graphics program, circa about 1998, LOL! I'm comfortable with it, so as long as it still works, I won't switch.
One program, GIMP, is available here:
https://www.gimp.org/
The other, Paint.net is available here:

Awww, thanks...we definitely hope you'll love our site a little too much!

Krysta,
Welcome!
You're correct
- the best way to make a pattern the size you want it is to submit
your original with pixels=stitches. So if you want 120 stitches
across, you'd want to give it a 120 pixel across image.
Technically, the freePatternWizard isn't a graphics program, so it
doesn't really know what to do with too-large or too-small images
when turning them into a pattern.
