New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Line,
Well, I'm all for you ultimately teaching them to crochet. You know, like I'm teaching the cat. LOL.
No, but how about a flat fox scarf?
You'd probably have to work the body in the round, then the arms, legs, etc. So it wouldn't be fully one piece, but you wouldn't have to stitch up the main piece...LOL, probably not that much of a savings, huh? Sigh.
Oooh, Picasso...a nose where an arm should be, like that?
Line,
The dusty rose sounds lovely!
So with you on wearing white. It's a dirt magnet!
You know, if you really love the idea of two colors, maybe you could go pink/gray or pink/black? I've always loved those combos. You could even go pink/green with a shade of green that sets off the pink.
I never make anything in white. I once went to someone's house and they had white carpeting on the floor. They were richie rich, obviously...that would never last around an active kitty, even one who only goes outside on a harness and doesn't get out there in the bad weather when she is on a harness! But can you imagine...all she'd need is a little leaky butt and she'd ruin the carpeting. Not on purpose, though. At least now if it happens, she leaks on a tile floor and cleanup is easy!
Oooh, electric blue...love!
Hugs,
Melanie
Elizabeth,
Welcome!
I'm so sorry to hear your dad suffers from dementia...my mother has also been diagnosed with it.
As for the signature, I have to suggest that if it's copyrighted, please check on the legalities of using the image you have. Although copyrighted images are generally safe to use for non-commercial use, I've recently been reading on the subject and sometimes copyright holders still insist upon someone getting permission for use of the copyrighted materials. I'm not an expert on this, nor am I an attorney, but I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for inadvertently infringing on a copyright. And if there is such a stipulation that you must get permission, I would have to think those involved would be kind, given your dad's diagnosis and the fact that you're using it for a very non-commercial use.
As for legibility of a signature, my advice is this: when making a pattern out of such an image, the best thing to do would be to make a pattern that is the exact width of the signature file. So if it's 150 pixels in width, make the pattern 150 pixels wide.
If the original image is extremely wide, well over the size of project you'd like to do (or the limits of the freePatternWizard), my suggestion is to first try reducing it in a graphics program - the freePatternWizard wouldn't be suitable for reducing the image, as it isn't a graphics program. Depending on the image itself, it may or may not be legible when reduced, but if that's the only choice, it would be worth a try.
Hope that helps!
Neave,
Ugh, I know that one. It's really annoying, especially if your goal is to make something in particular, and you just want to get started.
is it possible that I could also be upgraded please xxxx
