New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Hi All,
I am very new to this site. I am trying to create a picture of my husband and our two dogs and was hoping you could help answer a few questions for me:
What is the difference between the 4 color palettes mentioned?
How do you know how many threads to use?
How do you know if it should be a half stitch or a cross stitch
Are there any blending of colors?
Is there any outlining/french knots needed?
Looking to make a standard piece of paper, is 150 stitches enough?
Thanks!!
Lauren
Hi, how do you know what to make a half stitch vs cross stitch? Also does the design come with any sort of outlining that we need to complete?
I posted a qt under new topic, could you check it out
Your project looks AWESOME! can't wait to see the finished result

Christine,
Welcome!
I'm sorry to
say the freePatternWizard doesn't have a C2C function available at
this time.
The "size" you're referring to
isn't really a size. It's the number of stitches across. (You can't
currently define the number of rows, only stitches.)
The best thing to do, if possible, is to have your
original image set to 1:1, as in 1 pixel=1 stitch, and to do that,
you'd also need to know your gauge, to calculate the number of
stitches you'll need, so you can adjust your image
accordingly.
The freePatternWizard isn't a
graphics program, so if you give it a different value in this case,
it will attempt to use whatever pixels are in the piece to stretch
or narrow it to that size, where the results may not be
optimal.

Veronica,
You're so welcome!
You're not just
a good stitcher - you're a fast stitcher, too, apparently! I'm pokey slow.
I hope
you'll have it done by Xmas! Do you have a local framer that knows
how to frame cross stitch? That's something that has been hard to
find wherever I've lived. Plenty of framers, but not ones who know
how to frame cross stitch.
Please feel
free to keep sharing pictures of your progress!
leelatu,
It's gorgeous! Is that
some kind of half-shell stitch for the body and a full shell for
the edging? Did you follow a pattern or is this your own?
It looks divine
and I love the color gradient, plus the contrast! My address is... Hey, you can't blame a girl for
trying!
Thank you so much for posting!
