New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn!  If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you.  This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic!  (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)

New!  The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

Welcome to Stitchboard!  Feel free to sit and stay awhile.  Check out our new Premier features.  In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request!  We have many more features planned, too!  Laughing

Eharrise,
Welcome! Smile
Filet crochet does end up looking almost like a regular crochet graph sans colors, but in this instance the blocks don't indicate single stitches, they indicate "closed" filet blocks (of stitches) or "open" filet blocks, depending. This is the way a normal filet pattern is represented, as you can see in this neat tutorial for working in filet:
https://www.crochet.com/learning-center/filet-crochet
If you're looking for a word pattern, we currently have no option for one in filet, only a graphical representation.
Currently, filet is only available in the Premier area. If you'd like to use the regular freePatternWizard to make filet patterns you certainly may, but those are keyed to make rectangular patterns (since single crochet stitches are rectangular) and not specifically square filet block patterns, so the results may not have the aspect ratio you want and the finished work may end up looking skewed or wonky.
Hope that helps!

I have don't it, and horrible at it so far but I found amazing videos on YouTube. if it's not against rules I will grab u a few links after I double check thise rules. Happy to meet fellow bead and crafters I am so excited to be here as well.

ALSO SELF TAUGHT AND I AM SURPRISED AND ACTUALLY PROUD OF MYSELF, BEING A STAY AT HOME MOTHER OF 4 NO HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION AND PARENTS THAT NEVER ENCOURAGED ME BEING PROUD OF MYSELF IS A GREAT FEAT!!! LOOK FORWARD TO MORE CONVERSATION!!!!

Kyia,

Welcome!  Smile

What a beautiful first name you have...so unusual!

How sweet of your grandma to have taught you to crochet.  Apparently it was just what the doctor ordered!  Wink  And it's wonderful that you're self-taught on the rest...I'm self-taught, so I can appreciate your journey.  LOL, though I'm so ancient that not only was the Earth's crust still cooling Wink when I learned, there was no YouTube or Internet for learning!  Surprised  Oh, the horrors!  LOL.

Congrats on getting your first home!  Glad you made it through all of the rought times and hoping your move will go happily and smoothly.  Kiss

Debbie,

Wow, you sound like a seasoned professional...no way have you only been knitting for 1 1/2 to 2 years!  Surprised

I agree with you about the design features.  People can have amazingly different ideas from the very same thing, and it's fun to see ideas sparking more ideas.  One of my friends used to do that kind of thing (and probably still does) with his art.  He and other artists would get together online, exhange and then work off of each other's pieces...the results would be amazing, as they'd take the work in so many different directions!

Loving the idea of your member gallery.  Kiss  That's going to inspire many!  Kiss

It's true...in crafting, newbies can start right away and become proficient almost immediately!  Kiss  Pretty much everything can be broken down into steps and then the final application is the most fun of all...bringing imagination to reality!

IMO, that's what makes crafts so interesting...there's always more to learn!  I'm a "technique junkie" - I want to know a technique, even if I'll never use it.  It usually comes in very handy to have tried it, if for nothing else than having an extra hint of how to do something unrelated at a later date.  Smile

Glad you're enjoying our conversations here as much as I am.  And here's hoping this will lead to more people learning and developing their own talents!  Kiss

Neave,

Oh, yeah, because if he did, he wouldn't have been in trouble in the first place!
