New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn!  If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you.  This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic!  (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)

New!  The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

Welcome to Stitchboard!  Feel free to sit and stay awhile.  Check out our new Premier features.  In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request!  We have many more features planned, too!  Laughing

Shania,
Beautiful name! Kiss
So glad we're able to help you get obsessed with creating your own patterns!
I've been to TN (though not for many years) and it's lovely.
Most people generally make afghans, but if you want a faster project, bags are wonderful!
Hope you have a beautiful day/night! Kiss

I am actively crocheting a baby blanket that I want to cross stitch dinosaurs on. Most likely T-Rex, Stegosaurus and maybe Brontosaurus. I can't find any patterns I like elsewhere on the web. Any ideas? Should I create my own patterns?

Thanks!
Scubamom

I use stitchboard quite often, but I don't use the pattern that is generated, I just use it to go by then I create a duplicate manually through spreadsheets so that I can put in numbers so that I don't have to count every single stitch.  This will take me hours to days to do depending on the dificulty of the pattern, some patterns I can create completely from just looking at a picture, but when too dificult I turn to stitchboard to somewhat simplify it for me.  I was wondering if there is a feature that adds the number of stitches per color? Here is an example of a pattern i started for my craft business name. Right now you see duplicate numbers  in one color because I'm in the image creating process, once I have the image all made up (manually) I go through and number all the stitches per color on every row of stitches.  It's a long process, but once I start on a project I don't have to waste time counting stitches over and over again.  Fortunately I don't have to type every number with spreadsheet you can drag through the cells and will number for you, but sometime I will turn to graph paper and hand write the pattern.  I do not print my patterns, because I am hard at seeing and I find using the computer also helps me keep track of what row and what stitches I have done already by highlighting the stitches already done.

I almost forgot the design pattern I created for a Christmas star in peyote this past December. On the Seed Beads And More FB group page they had a November and December beading challenge to make Christmas stars either ones from the pattern pdfs in their files or one of our own. I had made a couple of stars already the yr before and made a few from the files I gave as gifts. Then I decided to design a special one for me in the Southwest style which is what I know best and is the simpliest to create. I did it also on my BeadToll4 program, but since they don't offer star pattern grahps I created the star designs in diamond shapes and just beaded it as a  complete star. I never did change it to a star graph since I know how to follow it to make it without the pattern being on the graph. Soem asked me if I would create one on a star pattern, but I declined as it would ahve had to be hand colored in and no pdf which most folks want to go by. I did tell anyone who desired could use the designs in a star or in any way they chose if they wanted. So far I ahve not seen a single star or other beaded item with my designs which is fine with me too. I do have a pdf for the diamonds I created to amke this star from.

I call this star "Walks In Spirit". It is also the name I  created years ago and use for my beading I send out with any beaded items I make for folks.
