Line,

I love your floating clock even more up close!  Kiss  I've looked at our hardware store, and they don't sell anything close, but there are a lot of really nice choices at Amazon.  Kiss  And the prices aren't terribly high.  Smile  LOL, though the one comment from a manufacturer was something like, "Have fun  with the numbers."  Um, does that mean exchanging the 9 for a 3 or something?  Ha ha, "It's 3:00...no, wait...it's 9:00...it's in the 9 space, but that's the number 3!"  Laughing  No, I think instead of having "fun" with the numbers, I'll keep them in their traditional spots.  Wink

Awww, thanks...well, the porch dining room is a very loooong term plan, sigh, because there are so many other things to do first, such as getting central air conditioning in here and redoing wiring...there's no end to the fixes, so the decorating things will have to wait.  But I do look forward to then, to planning out that front room and how pretty it will look with windows all around and perhaps curtains that go all around the room for nighttime privacy.  What I also want to do is not just turn it into a front porch room, but a glassed in room that wraps a tiny bit around the side of the house (it can't go terribly far, as there isn't much of a yard).  I saw one like it and have loved the idea ever since!  Kiss

LOL, oh, I love the open look, too!  But remember...bathroom.  Yuck.  That's the reason the entranceway is unusable as a dining room, otherwise, it would be the perfect size.  But if there's a front porch dining room that's got a door keeping it closed off from the entranceway, you can still be near the bathroom, but the bathroom won't be right on top of the dining room room.  Smile

Hee hee, mine would buy a cable knitting needle if he couldn't find the right kind of crochet hook, too.  Especially if store personnel were busy and he didn't want to ask.

Completely agree with you about books.  It's hard to mistake a different title for a specific one.  Laughing  LOL, even for a man with no interest in the subject.  Wink

Melanie,

I see where you are going with the bathroom/dininroom situation.. There are many houses here in DK where the bathroom has a door into the kitchen, I really don't get it...

Bad news:
I did not get acceptet into my choise of education :/
I am really... I don't know.. Pissed/sad/frustrated at the same time.. What now? I don't know if I am in the "winter pile" or if I am in the "no chance in hell pile"... I can't even call them to check, since they are on vacation :/

Really don't know what to do now.. o.O

Line,

Yuck...so with you on not understanding why anyone would choose to have a bathroom near food preparation or consumption!

Our house actually had a bathroom at one time, probably long ago, right in the kitchen.  The inspector we hired before buying said it was common years ago to install a bathroom in a place like the kitchen, for when grandpa could no longer climb the stairs.  He theorized they would then say, "When you're finished taking a crap, grandpa, we could use more sauerkraut."  Wink

Oh, no!  Cry  I'm so sorry.  Do you have a backup school picked?  If so, can you apply with enough time to get in if the other place falls through for sure?

I think it's irresponsible and poor not responding in a way where they can notify you about whether or not you have any chance.  They must know you have a limited time to find another school that meets your needs.  How they can simply take off for summer like it's nothing is beyond me.  Cry

That said, might there be an administrative office or something that's open?  I don't know how it works there, but I believe here you can call and people still work in the offices over the summer.  Or is it different there?

Sending good and loving thoughts that you'll be able to do something to remedy the situatoin that works out betterKiss

Melanie,

Eeeeewww that is disgusting.. (vomiting-smiley <- really needed here)

No - there is no other school..  The problem is that we had to submit our application for school start allready in March - it's like that with all colleges here in DK.. So I can't do anything about it.. I have written them an email though because I need to know what my options are..

Everything is closed, they are back on Monday where some of the schools start again.. So untill then, I can do nothing..
I have looked into my options if the school says that there is nothing they can do, and I have to wait for next year.

I can always study some subjects like the ones I have already passed, I was thinking religion, and history.. Not that I can use it for anything, but it takes 6 months, and gives me enough ours so I can still get "paid".. In DK we get paid to study.. I only need to study for 17 hours a week to get 'paid' because I have children under the age of 7..
I can even study the subjects over the internet which in my situation right now is my best option...

Line,

LOL...suffice it to say we're on the same page here...there are simply places you do not put a bathroom!  (Agreed...a vomiting smiley would be handy!)

So am I understanding correctly that they can push you into another course of study entirely?  That seems so unfair.  Or is it that you're wait-listed until something becomes available?

I agree...you do need to know what your options are...how can you plan otherwise?

Hope you have some good options available to you.  Kiss

Wow, what a great thing, to be paid to study!

Do you think you're best off finding something else to study, then, such as religion and history?

It's so convenient that there are now courses online that one can take.  LOL, no traffic to fight!  Wink

Please let me know how things turn out.  Hoping for the best!  Kiss

Melanie,

They cannot push me into another direction than the one I am allready in..

I have talked to the school, they sent me an email saying that they would advise me to take the rest of the subjekts, so that I would have a full "high school" exam.. So that is what I am going to do.. I need an average at 5,3 and my average right now is double of that.. If I go through the rest of the subjects, I am guaranteed to get in next year..

Yes we get paid to study :p
The only thing we need to pay for our selves is the books, and even that we only have to pay when we attend the universities..
And of course if our kids attend a private school... Wink It is kind of handy..

Line,

I'm glad they can't make you study something else!  Kiss

Wow, that's fantastic that you've heard from them and they've told you you're guaranteed for next year!  Kiss  It's only fair for them to advise you, rather than leaving you hanging and wondering.

I really think that's the way education should be...people paid to study, rather paying out small fortunes for it, as we do here.

Private school I can understand paying for, because that's a choice.

So does any of this postpone your plans, or will you be right on track?

Melanie,

It will postpone my plans for about a year since I will have to study some subjects that I did not think into my plans.. :/

But that is okay I guess, it is not the worst that could happen.. But I will have to give up on my summer vacation :p If I was accepted into the school this year, I would start in September.. But now I will have to start this month.. :p No relaxing time for me I guess..

I'm so sorry.  Cry  Of course you want to get started right away, not put things off.

Ouch, not having a summer vacation is awful!  Cry  I hope you can find some way to relax despite the lack of a vacation.  Kiss

Melanie,

I just signed up for a full year of studies again...
Signed up for these subjects:
Math, History, Religion, Chemestry, Biology, Geography, Physics, Psychology.. o.O
I have to study history over the internet, it will only take me 6 months..

This is deffinitly not the way I wanted to do it, but it seems like there is no way around it..
I start on tuesday next week, so it seems I have a bit of summer vacation after all..

No time for my yarn though..

Line,

Wow, that sounds like a very full schedule!  Glad you can study history online.  That must save on driving costs, no?

Happy you do have some summer vacation.  Kiss

Argh, and sorry you don't have time for crocheting!  So unfair.  Cry  Although you might be interested in what a friend of mine does...she crochets easy, straightforward items during online classes where she doesn't have to concentrate, when it's just discussion.  I don't know if your history classes are very involved, but perhaps you can crochet during discussions?  I don't know how she takes notes...maybe she keeps pen and paper handy for that.  Smile

Melanie,

Our online classes is not much discussions.. More "teach yourself the subject".. It is a lot of reading.. And a lot of hand-ins..

The driving costs are not that bad though, I would love my history class to be on the school instead of online, but my schedule is so full now.. I even have to study one day from 8 in the morning untill 7 in the evening.. It is crazy...

I don't know how I will get through that.. Maybe it is no so bad.. The day after the long one i have to meet at 1 in the afternoon.. But that is where I have to study the history stuff.. o.O

Line,

Ugh, the online class sounds pretty unpleasant!  My friend has to do a lot of reading and hand-ins with her online class, too, but there is also a lot of discussion to balance it all out.

I can see why you'd prefer it if your history class were at school!

That really is a crazy, awful schedule.  Cry  Sounds like some of my college schedules.  Education can be such a sacrifice!

I do think you'll get through it.  Kiss  I can't tell you how I did, but if I could, then I know you can!  Kiss  It always seems so daunting, particularly when you know a semester coming up is going to be difficult.  But you're smart and determined, so you'll make it.  Kiss

Sending good thoughts your way.  Kiss

Melanie,

Seems like things are getting worse and worse here..

My mother has decided to move back home to Denmark again.. My stepfather has taken her back, almost stood with open arms.. He actually DROVE to England (through Germany, Holland and so) to pick her up.. WTF is happening..

Now he wants us to be one big happy family again - I CAN'T DO THAT..

I can't deal with thins level of crazy <- it is almost insane..

Oh... And HE didn't tell me that she was coming back home, I had to fing that out via my hairdresser who posted a picture on Facebook.. I bet he would not have told me if I did not find out myself.. We was supposed to go down there for a visit on saturday, so that would have ben an awfully 'nice' surprice.. Or not..

I do not know which leg to stand on now.. I am just waiting for her to do the same thing again.. I cannot let my kids into a life where she disappears from time to time because 'her marriage is not working out'...

Phew... Needed the venting.. :/

About school -> Can't wait to get started though.. Even though I have not had any "real" vacation (me and my hooks) I look forward to starting so I won't sit at home with my own thoughts... :p There is to much crazy in my life to handle right now.. -.-'

Line,

Oh, hon, how awful!  Cry  I can completely understand why you wouldn't want your kids to be exposed to her craziness.

Are you being pushed to accept and support her position?  It sounds absolutely, horribly wrong if that's the case.  Can you refuse to participate?  Not go to visit on Saturday?

IMO, whatever you want to do is the right thing to do.  It sounds like a chaotic, toxic environment, and you have every right to choose not to get involved.

Vent anytime.  Kiss  People can be cruel and thoughtless, and the idea of someone like that, family or not, expecting to be welcomed into your life is crazy.  Nothing says you must welcome her or accept her bad behavior.  Nor do you have to believe her if she claims to have changed.  People can change, but in my experience it's rare, so if your gut is saying she hasn't changed while she's claiming to have changed, I'd say listen to your gut!

Your stepfather has no right to expect you to accept your mother back again.  If he wants to accept her himself, that's his problem.  People can spend years loving the wrong person, and that still doesn't mean you have to get caught up in the drama, too.

I really dislike people who insist you have to go against your feelings "because it's your family."  Family is not perfect.  It's being a good parent not to want your kids to get messed up by your mother's lifestyle.  They're young and impressionable...she's irresponsible.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this on top of everything, especially after a very stressful move.  Cry

Glad you can take your mind off of the drama with school.  Kiss  Don't let them catch you up in their bad choices; IMO, you should do your best and put yourself and your family first.  Kiss

Sending lots of good thoughts that things work out the best way for you.  Kiss
