Line,
I'm guessing your nerves had a lot to do with that C, so please don't kick yourself...you did your best, I'm sure. And you'e done so well in other areas, anyway, I'm sure that C won't mean much in the long run.
Glad you've done the majority of your own packing...of course, you'll want the boys' things available to them.
The transition will likely be hard enough, so anything to help them along is great!
Oh, no, everyone is weaseling out on their promise to help you move?!
Grrrr!
That's so wrong. Glad you've found other people to help you.
You're so right...moving
is
horrible...the nice thing is that you'll be able to start your new life soon.
Wow, 9 days isn't bad at all!
Sending lots and lots of good thoughts your way for a smooth move.

Line,
Hope you did really, really well on your oral English exam.
That text sounds very upsetting...sending good thoughts your way that you were able to concentrate instead on your exam.
Only a week left...happy dance time again!

Melanie,
I am shocked.. Really in shock..
I have never ever been praised so much for my language in my whole life..
I got an A... Our censor said to me that she would LOVE to have me in her class at the Univeristy, and that my language and my vocabulary is 10 times bigger than that of her 3rd year english students at the university.. She was dissapointed that she could not grade me any higher..
Oh my god.. Got the highest grade in my class.. I still can't believe it..
Just sent the exam papers to the university that I hope to get into this summer, so now I can finally relax a bit..
Only 5 days left until our move.. Or at leat until we get the keys to the house..
- Still in shock...

Line,
That's the absolute best news I've ever heard...though not a surprise at all!
Did I mention you're very, very smart?
Anyway, congratulations on the highest grade in the class, and be proud...you deserve it!
Glad you can relax now on your grades.
5 more days...wow!
That's not long at all...so are you going to make this a quick move or a slower one?
Wish there were something more inspiring to say in addition to congratulations...what a
fantastic
accomplishment!

Melanie,
We will try to move ALL of our stuff in 2 days.. It will be the quickest move ever.. :p
I will not stay in our appartment longer than we absolutely have to..
We get the keys to the house on Wednesday, and we will bring some boxes with us that day + Thursday and Friday.. On Saturday our moving crew will hopefully be here to help with the rest, or at least load all of our stuff into the car we have rented for the purpose.. I hope that we can take everything with us that day, but if we can't, then we still have the car on sunday and could pick up the rest of the stuff..
We have to paint the boys rooms in the house on Wednesday, and we have to pick up a new bed on Thursday.. I really cant wait for it to be over..
My boyfriend went on vacation from work this Friday, and he have 3 weeks at home with me and our boys.

Line,
Wow, that
would
be the quickest move ever, IMO! But so worth it...I don't blame you at all for not wanting to stay in your apartment any longer than necessary. That was how I felt when we finally were able to move out of our previous place! Even though we were still going back and forth for a while, and it was very, very stressful, it did feel way better to be on the other end of things. It felt...hopeful, despite still having to return to the old place many times.
And it's great that you have people helping you...plus, nice that your boyfriend is also free to spend time on the move and adjustments thereafter.
Even moving to a better place is stressful, so it will help to be together for the process.
Will you have help with the painting? We had to paint both of our offices; however, though my husband helped with mine, he actually specifically told me not to help with his. My office was in worse shape; there was old wallpaper that had to be steamed and torn off, ugh. And then he had to do the upper parts of the walls, which I couldn't reach.
When it came to his office, though, I was ready to help...and he told me he would work on it alone. Not that he didn't want the help, but he knew that if I messed something up, he'd be upset with me. So he painted his office all by himself (though he had no wallpaper to steam/peel, just had to prime and paint), and he can only be mad at himself for any spills or lumpy paint, LOL, because it wasn't me!
He had a major spill in my office...luckily, the flooring is old and crappy, so it really doesn't matter if it's messed up...we'll ultimately replace it...someday, as the house still needs a
lot
of work. And still, since he's the one who did the major spilling, he can't be mad at me!
Anyway, sending you lots of good thoughts and wishes for a smooth move.
Please do keep in touch with your progress.

Melanie,
Two of my friends will come and help me with the painting when they are home from Alanya (Turkey), I have painted one of the rooms in the apartment allready, but my body has officially said stop.. :/
I have some problems with my pelvis after beeing pregnant with my second son. The proffessional people in that area says that I will never be pain free, so I have to listen to my body when it says stop, I cannot push it because I would have to lie down for a couple of days after
I do have to paint the boys rooms tomorrow and even though Thomas will help me I will have to do most of it by myself since he is crap at painting :p haha..
I think I am like your husband.. I like to do stuff by my self because I can only blame myself when something goes wrong <- notice the 'when' and not 'if' because that is just my luck :p
I don't like blaming others, but I am kind of a perfectionist and I have a very speific way of doing things.. Oops..
Anyhow, getting the keys to our new future tomorrow.. It is fantastic.. Will post pics..

Line,
Glad you'll have friends to help you with painting.
That's a job that can get very, very stressful.
When will your friends return?
I'm so sorry you can't overdo it without really hurting.
Of course they're right about taking it easy, rather than aggravating your pain and paying for it later.
I understand the perfectionist thing, sigh. Hope you can find the right balance so you're happy after with the way things were done.

Melanie,
OH MY GOD...
11 days without internet...
I am sooooooo stressed.. What should have been a quick move turned out to be my worst nightmare....
We got the keys on the 1st of July, and I didn't notice anything wrong right untill our real eatate agent went home, and the woman who owned the house did the same thing...
The first thing we noticed was that they had not taken out the srews and so on... There were so many holes in the walls that they had not even fixed... So we could not start painting untill we fixed the holes, and that had to dry :/
So we started to unpack.. Or we tried to... We had a few boxes with us, mainly kitchen stuff.. And then reality hit us.. They had not cleaned one single thing in the entire house..
The oven looked like it had not been cleaned since november when they purchased it...
Maybe you can figure out how the rest of the house looked?
They have put steel panels at the floor.. They were YELLOW! And full of stains.. :/
The gas stove ( which will be replaces asap) was filthy and greasy... It was sooooo gross..
We got the keys on a wednesday, and we only finished cleaning on saturday...
We got the boys rooms painted, so they are good to go... The living room and our bedroom are done to... We have not even started to paint the kitchen, and hall, the bathrooms and so on...
There were piss stains on both toilets.. :/ I am soooooo furious.. The deal was that they had to clean before we moved in because we did not have a lot of time, and because I don't want to clean up other peoples mess..
We are not even done with our apartment yet.. It still has to be painted :/ We have to be out of there by the 15th... :/
On top of that my mother has decided to move to the UK, leaving her husband, her 4 kids and 2 grandchildren.. She have been cheating on her husband with a guy she have known for 3 months.. That stress me out as well... :/ She went 'under ground' for 3 whole days.. And unfortunately I have to tell her that she will not be part of my family anymore... I have lost all respect for her..
I need my yarn and my hooks
They are still packed down...
I am furious, stressed, and sad at the same time.. I can't even enjoy the house..
The boys seems to love it though. They have a lot of space now, and they have stopped fighting so much - so I got that going for me...

Line,
Oh, hon...how awful...I'm so sorry!
Sounds like you need a quick crocheting fix. Can you get to a store and pick up a hook and just one skein of yarn, so you can relax and ease your mind?
Do you have any recourse on the problems they left behind? Can you get some money refunded? That's
really
horribly unfair that you have to clean everything they left behind, plus pull out all of the screws from the walls...I mean,
really
?! They couldn't take a few freaking minutes to do that instead of leaving it for you?!
Feeling your pain.
I hope the worst of it is over fast and you can relax soon. My suggestion is to get yourself a single hook and skein to tide you over until you can find and unpack your hooks and yarns.
Doing something enjoyable will help with a lot of that stress and give you the strength to go on.
And it's cheaper than seeing a shrink!
Plus you get something nice out of it at the end.
I'm very happy to hear your boys like the space.
Hopefully as they're less stressed and unhappy, you'll feel better. I just wish the previous owners would hire a cleaning crew to take the stress off of you guys. They should at least do that much! I can't imagine what would possess them to walk away, knowing it was a total mess. So unfair.
Hope you can de-stress and feel better about your place soon.
And I hope the work on the apartment goes very, very fast.
I'm sorry your mother has done so much to stress you out...ugh, at the absolute worst time!
Hang in there, hon, and feel free to vent anytime...I'm here for you.
Sending good thoughts your way that the work you still have left goes fast and you'll be able to relax in your new place. Oh, and that you'll find some yarn and a crochet hook so you can relax with something you enjoy.

Melanie,
There is NOTHING I can do about some refund of some sorts.. :/
The contract says that the house have to be tidy.. We made a deal with the previous owners face to face.. But apparently they didn't care about that... -.-'
Thomas starts work again monday 20th.. So it is not much time we have together as a family... After that I have both kids at home until they start in daycare 1st of august..
After that I can hopefully relax a little... And hopefully I start school in september... Fingers crossed..
And thanks.. I might just vent a bit.. :p

Line,
I'm so sorry you can't get a refund.
I imagine even though it's in the contract, it wouldn't be worth taking them to court...is that correct? More trouble than what you'd get out of it, and too disruptive to your lives?
I'm relating so much to what you're going through. When we got our house, well, aside from the lack of cleanliness, we didn't have any working plumbing, so we literally couldn't move in for 2 months after we'd bought it until it was fixed (nobody told us until the day before we had a scheduled inspection of the house). And we tried to negotiate, to either get a break on the price or get the repair done, but we were told we were taking the house as is and we could take it sans plumbing or they'd put it back on the market.
We just found out literally about 11 hours ago that one of our former neighbors would have put a bid on the house had we not taken it in that condition. Wow, glad we didn't know it at the time, otherwise, we would have been panicking! (As it is, when we originally went to buy the house, someone had just put a bid on it hours before and the only reason it didn't happen was because they couldn't get it financed. There are certain conditions that must be met for financing, and this house would never have met those conditions. Anyway, that still set us back about 3 weeks, which was awful, since we were pushed so much on the other end to move way too quickly. We were working so hard, we both were injured!)
It's really not fair that you can't just relax and do what you need to do, rather than having to work on the things they were supposed to do as part of the contract.
And it's unfair that it's also interfering with the time you had planned to spend together!
Hope you can spend some good, relaxing time in August, crocheting and enjoying the rest of the summer, before you have to go back to school!
You're welcome...feel free to rant more than a bit...rant a lot...you deserve far better treatment! Sending more good thoughts your way that everything gets better very quickly!

Melanie,
It would cost us to go to court.. Maybe more than the things that needed to be done would cost us.. So definitely not worth it..
Oh my god.. Working plumbing is a must.. o.O
So rude to not tell you sooner.. :/
But glad you got it anyway.. What would have happened if you had not taken it in the condition you did? Would you not have a place to live then?
There are also certain condition that have to be met when getting a loan for a house here in denmark. But it is not as much the house condition, but alså you own finance situation (of course)..
Mostly they look at the report on the house..
I do not know if our reports are the same as yours, but here the inspector will make a 'K-list'.. He will look at fx the windows to see if they are as they should be.. The roof - will the house need a new one.. The floors - are they leveled? Electrical stuff like outputs and stuff.. Litteraly EVERYTHING is looked over..
He will then give the different things a rating.. From K0-K3.. K0 is merely cosmetic things, where a K3 is something that has to be fixed ASAP..
We had 3 K3's on our house.. One of them is our terrace that is a bit to high compared to the vents leading air under the house.. That is an easy fix, since we would just have to remove some tiles..
The other one was because there were missing some labels on the electrical cabinet telling wich stuff goes where (stupid that it is a K3 but still)...And the 3rd one was because of some lamp outtakes that was not secured proberly.. Also an easy fix..
A K3 can also be huge cracks in the outside walls that can effect the structure of the house.. Or if the tiles in the bathroom are not laid properly so that water can get underneath.. So ours are very small K3's :p
If the house you want to buy has to many K3's the bank will start looking at you own financial situation to see if you can afford to fix it.. If their estimate is that you can't they will not lend you the money for the house UNLESS you won't need proffessionals to do the repairs..
Buying a house here in Denmark can be quite confusing.. o.O
I hope to get some time to relax as well.. I really need it..

Line,
I'm very sorry...but not surprised it would cost more to go to court over the lack of cleaning.
It sounds like the realty business can be just as crooked there as it can be here.
And then there are the people who have no conscience at all and can do that sort of thing, like the person who previously owned your house.
Right?! Isn't working plumbing vital these days? It was hard to be at the house just bringing things over, as there was no bathroom to use.
They didn't say anything about the plumbing because they simply didn't care. This wasn't an owner, though. The house had been foreclosed, so it was a financial entity that was selling. So they were just looking for someone to take it, and they were sure at some point the price would be low enough that someone would accept the deal as is, without having to fix the plumbing or refund some money. Sadly, they were right, as we did have to accept the deal as is, because on the other end we were being (illegally) pushed to move four months earlier than had been agreed upon.
If we hadn't taken this place, we probably would have had to move out of the area. We would have found a better house (in other words, something in move in condition, not needing repairs), but it would have caused other problems, as we still needed access to the same basic area, and everything else was much farther away.
One's finances affect financing here, too. It's both...if they don't feel you can handle the payments and/or the place isn't up to the lender's standards, it's possible a sale won't then happen. It's also way different than it used to be. People used to get mortgages based on...nothing. Someone told us to apply for a mortgage years ago, one we didn't think we could handle back then! (Obviously, we didn't do it.) But after the economy got worse and it was found people were "underwater" with their mortgages (owed way more than their homes were worth), the process of handing out mortgages without checking on people's finances stopped. Now they want to be sure you can pay, that lenders aren't going to get stuck with mortgages that will go unpaid, where the owners will have to be foreclosed on and the lenders will have to sell the same houses much cheaper. Not that it stops foreclosures altogether, of course. Nothing will stop that completely. But it does make it harder to buy a house.
That's really interesting how it goes there with the inspections and determinations of what's wrong with a house. It sounds pretty similar, though I'm not familiar with how much different things affect whether or not someone will get a mortgage here. I just know how the inspector pointed out certain things that were fine for us, but which wouldn't have allowed us financing had we been looking for it.
Glad to hear all of your K3s were easy fixes! It definitely sounds crazy that the electrical cabinet labels being unlabeled counted as a K3...I'd think that's a very easy fix and barely worth mentioning!
Sending more good thoughts that you can relax soon.
