Vertical Measurement Question (Help)
January 24, 2019 at 2:13:16 PM

Hi I am trying to creat a graph for an afghan that will be 66 x 90. But the pattern wizard only asks for the amount of stitches across. I need 180 across but I need 198 vertically according to my gauge swatch. When I enter the 180 across it generates its own vertical number that is in the 300's and would be incredibly long.

gauge 3 stitches equal 1 inch horizontal and 2 stitches equal 1 inch vertically.

Maybe there is an easy way for me to interpret the graph that I am not understanding, but could someone help me please?
Thank you!

Eafears,
Welcome! Smile
You're correct that the freePatternWizard designates the length for you. This will be changed in a future version, but when it was first written, we were concerned people would either truncate or skew their patterns, so we decided to let the freePatternWizard figure the length based on the dimensions and aspect ratio of the original image.
Until then, the best suggestion I have is to add borders to your original image, to bring it to the exact 180 across amount, so that the length is the 198 rows you need. Since the length is coming out too long, you would need to add side borders so that your image will still be the 180 stitches across, but then the length will be shortened when it goes through the freePatternWizard. It will take some experimentation to come up with the correct number, but that's the most optimal workaround we have so far, until the next version is available with the customizable length. Unfortunately, I can't give you a date for when that next version will be available.
