Selecting your own colors
March 17, 2018 at 7:35:41 PM

When creating a bead pattern where I select the colors, I only end up with a black and white pattern. None of the colors I select are in the pattern. I read somewhere this was being worked on, but it's been a few weeks. Will this be resolved?

Hi, Calipage, and thanks for subscribing to the freePatternWizard.

Yes this has probably been resolved.  Could you please let me know what stitch you're using in beading (peyote, brick...)?  Brick and Peyote have some intermittent color issues that will be corrected in the version coming soon.

I also could make this upcoming version available to you to see if this is a bug that's been fixed.  Let me know if you want to try this.

If you're getting only black and white, I'm wondering if the problem is something else other than a program bug.  If you'd be willing, I would also be interested in getting a copy of the image you're using as well as the colors you're choosing so I can try it here.  If I duplicate the problem, I can either let you know settings I use to get it working, test it in the next version myself, or if it's a program bug, fix it right away.

So please let me know if you'd be willing to email me an image with which you're having problems.  I'll try to work with you.

Terry

I'm happy to email a pic. I don't know the colors I want to choose.yet. That's a problem I'm having. The finishes and such don't show, so it's challenging to choose a color if you don't have it in hand to see. ''Tis a brick stitch pattern. I'd love to try whatever version you need me to. The pattern I have of the same pic with the colors chosen for me looks great, but the colors don't always work well together when you take into account the finishes. And I've found the colors to not always be a great match. I'm really happy with how the photo translates to a pattern. It's the colors im finding challenging.

I forgot one thing. It'd be nice to be able to select certain types of finishes to exclude. For example, the silk finishes of the Delicas cut thread and the color is too translucent next to other finishes, so they're not a good choice for bead tapestry.

Hi.  Thanks for the input.  I'm just finishing up a project hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday and then will send you an email.  You can reply to that and attach an image.  I'll give more info in the email.

I am trying to get a pattern for peyote stitch using Miyuki Delicas and choosing my own colors (15 of them) and am also getting only black and white patterns in PDF, which also says I only chose 2 colors (B&W, apparently.) It's from a Van Gogh Irises poster, which is certainly not black and white, right?  Has the problem been corrected, or is it me?
Thanks!

Hi.

I made several changes to Peyote and I know there was a color issue that should have been corrected.  I have not yet turned on the next version of software.

I expect to finally be able to do this shortly after the first of the year.

In the meantime, if you would like to try updated software, let me know and I'll unlock it for you to test.  This takes me a day or so and I can then send you a link.

Otherwise, like I say, it should be sometime early January when I enable the software.

Terry

I also tried to select my own colors for a peyote beading pattern. In my case I selected all the colors that are available in Delica from Fire Mountain Gems. My pattern only comes out in B/W.

I tried using the default colors but a lot of the colors are not available from that company, and I have to order from them only.

Ronnie,
Welcome! Smile
I'll have Terry, who does our support, get back to you about this. There is a technical issue, but I take care of more of the beading/arts side of it. Smile
PS I love your pentacle...gorgeous! Kiss

Ronnie,

I'm testing a couple changes that address black and white patterns and also brick and peyote stitches.

I should have a new version live this week but I'm also trying to get one update completed within the next 2 days.

Ronnie,

I finally created an image and found a combination of settings that do have a problem so I can finally fix this.  Stay tuned...  I'm working on an update.

I am having the same problem.

I'm attempting to create a peyote stitch pattern using the delicas I have on hand.  When I choose my own colors, the result is black and white.  Has this been resolved?
