how do i go about getting a picure graph of my deceased niece .I'd like to make in black and white (if in color is to complicated) for my sister's birthday.

Welcome!

Making a pattern is easy! While logged in, go to the pulldown menu and choose "patterns/create a pattern." Then when you get into the freePatternWizard you can choose your image, choose your options (for instance, if you're crocheting, you can choose from "standard" or Tunisian), and yes, in #5 there is a choice of "Black and White."
