Is there a certain yarn that should be used to crochet a pillow from the graph? I live in a rural area and my choices are slim, so I may have to purchase it online.

Yarn choices are a matter of personal preference. Some prefer wools, others prefer acrylic and many, like you are limited by availability. (I also live in a yarn desert.
