Line,

Awww, thank you!  Kiss  Love to see pics of sweaters!  Kiss

I do hope there will be some new yarn shop, but I don't foresee it happening.  Cry  We've lost a lot of good stores, for which there are no substitutes.  The yarn shop went out many years ago, but there are others that went away recently, and alternatives for them are miles and miles away, including our only fabric store.  Cry

I'm glad to hear there is a good success rate with the meds for people who really want to stop drinking.  For the ones who stop taking the meds, well, you have to figure they were going to go back to drinking, anyway, right?  Which is very sad, but not much that can be done about it if it's their choice.  I'd think they'd have to be motivated or it's not going to work no matter what it is.  Cry

Okay, when you're having problems, can you try this?  Switch right over to Chrome on the Dell.  See if there's any difference.  If you try it at around the very time you're having trouble with the MacBook, if it works with the Dell, then it's a problem with the MacBook, perhaps the browser.  If both are having trouble around the same time, it's a problem with the site.  This is the best way to test for it.  Smile

Hugs,
Melanie

Line,

Glad it's not happening anymore!

Hmm, can you combine two lengths of yarn to make them as thick as you need them?

Hugs,

Melanie,

I could do that.. I actually thought of something.. I have these cones with a wool/silk blend.. So I thought of doing my project with 2 strands.. But I'm not sure if I will  have enough yarn then.. And as you know, if I buy the same color again, then there might be a slight difference in the color anyway.. o.O

So I'm thinking of buying 2 new cones (just because you can never get enough yarn)..

Well.. We'll have to see about that.. I have to find a color that I like first.. :p

Hugs,

Line,

I think you must buy two new cones!  On the practical side, you don't want to get to the end of your pattern and not have enough yarn.  Surprised

And of course you can never get enough yarn!  Laughing

You could also use two different colors if you like to combine colors.  Smile

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

I'm not sure if 2 different colors would work on this project.. Maybe if I made it grey/black...
But I am thinking of a dusty rose color thingy.. I could combine it with some kind of white/off-white/cream color.. BUT.. I'm not good with wearing white in any shape o.O I simply cannot keep it clean... :p
First time the dogs jumps me with mud on the paws, it will be ruined.. It's easier with some kind of color, because mud/dust what ever have e better tendency to wash out.. It doesn't do that in whites.. And sice I won't/can't bleach wool.. Well.. :p

I'll figure something out.. Cheesy YAY...

Hugs

(BTW - I think I might have found a place where they sell 'electric blue' yarns.. Both cotton and wool, gotta go chech it out someday Cheesy )

Line,

The dusty rose sounds lovely!  Kiss

So with you on wearing white.  It's a dirt magnet!

You know, if you really love the idea of two colors, maybe you could go pink/gray or pink/black?  I've always loved those combos.  Kiss  You could even go pink/green with a shade of green that sets off the pink.

I never make anything in white.  I once went to someone's house and they had white carpeting on the floor.  They were richie rich, obviously...that would never last around an active kitty, even one who only goes outside on a harness and doesn't get out there in the bad weather when she is on a harness!  But can you imagine...all she'd need is a little leaky butt and she'd ruin the carpeting.  Not on purpose, though.  At least now if it happens, she leaks on a tile floor and cleanup is easy!

Oooh, electric blue...loveKiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

I'm not sure about the mixing of the colors.. Not on this specific project.. I'll have to see about that..

It's something like this I wanna make..
Maybe I'll try.. Cheesy

Never make anything in white here either.. o.O Oh the horror when it gets dirty..

White carpeting.. Well.. Some people have enough money.. Just think about the day when you spill coffee on it.. Or worse.. Red wine.. o.O Shriek..

Line,

That's really pretty!  Kiss  That would look soooooooooo elegant to wear to an event or nice dinner!

I think you should make it...it would be stunning, and you'd look great in it!  Kiss

Oh, yeah, white isn't good for much of anything, at least not in garments.  I have very few white articles of clothing (just a couple of t-shirts with designs on them) and will keep it that way!  It's just not worth the upkeep.  I don't even like white yarn unless it's absolutely necessary for something.

LOL, can you imagine?!  Surprised  Even without active kids around, I still wouldn't get white carpeting...like you said, a coffee or wine spill, and that's it!  I guess those wealthy people either wouldn't have any active kids over, or they'd replace the carpeting often.

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

It is really pretty.. I have come by some dark blue wool yarn.. So I'll try to make it, and if it's good, I'll make one more.. It's pretty easy to make.. Just a big granny square.. Shouldn't take much time either.. Smiley

There is ONE thing white is good for.. Walls.. :p LOL..
The only two rooms in my house that has another color on the walls than white, are the kids rooms :p They're blue for Noah and green for Marcus..

Once had a white couch.. Biggest mistake of funiture EVER.. Who the hell thought that was smart.. And what the hell was I thinking when buying it?
It was leather, so it was easy to clean.. But it still got stains that was impossible to get out of it..

Hugs

Line,

It will be stunning in dark blue!  Kiss

Love fast projects...the faster you can make them, the faster you can wear them!  Kiss

White for walls...sigh, not much of a fan.  It was what I had as a kid.  I wanted a room that was pink or blue or purple, but I got...white.  Every room...white.  Sigh.

Now my office is lavender, with beautiful purple curtains...we painted it lavender and picked out the curtains to match.  My ceiling is blue, not intentional (it was painted that way beforehand) and it's not bad with the lavender!  Our bedroom is blue, which also wasn't intentional...it was what we got.  But it's not a bad blue, so for now, I'm good with that!

We have a room off of the bedroom that we call the sitting room; it's green, not a great one, not terrible.

Our kitchen is some putrid brownish pink, some wallpaper, all patchy and ugly.  But the looks of the kitchen are far less important than some of the other problems, so for now, it's staying that way.

Our living room is a greenish color which isn't great, though not my fave.  Stairway is white, hallway upstairs is white.  Bathrooms are...green, I think.  Or maybe one is blue, one is green.  Hubby painted his office yellow.  Not my kind of color, but he likes it.

I figure as long as my office is a nice color and the bedroom isn't too bad, I can live with the rest.  Smile

A white couch...argh!  That must have been awful upkeep.  Cry  I like darker colors for upholstered furniture, because as careful as you are, sooner or later, something's going to spill/stain.  Frown

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

I love colors on the walls too.. BUT.. I have such a hard time chosing a color that I don't wanna change after 3 weeks..
SO I am thinking, when moving, about painting all the walls white (yes borring), but then I wanna do some art on them.. Painting the art directly on the walls.. :p

I still want my craft room.. And I need that one to have a soothing color on the walls.. It will be where I can relax from a hard day.. Smiley

I want a freakishly dark color in my bedroom.. Like a very dark coffee/greyish color.. :p Or purple/brownish.. Something something.. But I can only paint those kind of colors in something I wanna live permanently in, because if it's a rented place, you have to keep the colors on the walls light.. Sigh..
A burnt kind or orange/redish would be beautifull too.. :p

The white couch was the worst mistake ever :p LOL.. I got rid of it after a couple of months.. :p Couldn't look at it anymore..

Anyhow.. Got the pictures of the sweaters my mother have made for the kids..

These are the ones they are using right  now..

First off: The rainbow shirt M got for his birthday Smiley

Then: One made from a norwegian pattern.. :p

White for M, brown for Noah

Don't know what happened here.. but: Blue for Noah, beige for Marcus

Last one: An Oslo Anorak (Norwegian pattern again..)

Line,

Yeah, that's a bit of a problem...if you really don't like a color, you're pretty much stuck with it until you repaint.  And painting in the first place isn't cheap!  Cry

Fantastic idea about white with art!  Kiss  Sigh, that wouldn't work for me...I can't paint or draw to save my life.  Cry  Even my stick figures suck.

I was kind of worried about the lavender walls, to tell you the truth.  I had always been told light colors should be used for everything, but I didn't want to go light.  Not that I wanted to go bright red or anything, LOL, not a brothel Wink, but a darker than very light purple or whatever...that's what I wanted to do.

There was a site that did have photos of different rooms in colors...I found a couple of tiny photos of the kind of color I was looking at, so I picked about a shade darker than I'd been thinking...and that's how I got my lavender walls!  What I don't like about ultra light colors is they tend to look like other colors, such as gray.  Sometimes it's impossible to tell the difference.  Frown  Anyway, it worked out well.  It's a bold color, but it's not so bold that it's annoying!

I want you to have a craft room...a beautiful one!  Kiss

I'd be too much of a wimp to try dark colors in a bedroom.  Though I've lived in two places that had, ugh, medium-dark brown on the walls.  It wasn't fun.  I never used to have a big problem with brown, but now I kind of do, after that.

Wow, those sweaters...the anorak!  Kiss  Love!  Kiss

Are they all knitted?  It looks like they are, but maybe I can't see them well enough to tell.  Anyway, they're sooooo beautiful.  Kiss  Thank you so much for taking the pictures and posting them!  Kiss

Melanie,

I can draw a bit.. But we have these overhead projectors (if you know what they are). You simply put something in it, that is printed on transparent plastic, and they you turn the maschine on, and you will now see the pattern on your wall.. You can now simply draw after the shadows that the maschine is casting.. Cheesy

Lavender is a beautiful color.. I wouldn't dare paint an entire room in that color (but only because I would be afraid I wanted to change it shortly after)..

I'm not in to the almost white, but not white colors either.. They all look the same.. o.O

Oh come on,  we both know it's your biggest dream.. A brothel like room in your house.. :p You can even complete the look by installing red lamps and so on :p LOOOOOL

Oh the dark color in the bedroom.. My mother has this beautiful, almost black, dark gray in her bedroom.. All white furniture.. I love it..
The room gets a lot of natural light, so it doesn't seem dark dark, if you know what I mean..

Glad you like the sweaters.. They are all knitted by my mother Smiley
I have a ton more, but the boys grew out of them..
She made one with a dachshund going all around the waist once.. Super cute.. Cheesy

Line,

Oh, yes, I know about those projectors, how cool!  Kiss  I would so do that!

I really like the lavender.  It's calming and relaxing.  LOL, I was worried I'd want to change it, but definitely don't!

Yeah, white, off-white, meh.  Even very light gray can be boring.

ROFL!  Yes, you got me...I want to have a brothel room in my home!  Laughing  It's my fondest dream.  Red walls and red lamps, LOL!

Oh, wow, yes, the natural light would make all the difference in the world in a room painted dark colors!  Then it would be stunning!  Kiss

Such beautiful sweaters, and the dachshund one sounds adorable!  Kiss  Do you give them away when the kids outgrow them?  Or do you take them apart and crochet them into something else?

Hugs,
Melanie
