This is a spot to list Cross Stitch Festivals and Events.  It doesn't replace the Timely Topics area; this is for seeing only cross stitch events at a glance.

YAY!

I found another one on facebook, but they wanted a LOT of money [hundreds] for vendors to sign up, so I didn't know whether anyone might be interested in it or not  ... strangely enough, they didn't hardly charge wholesale buyers anything ... found that to be very strange.

If anyone is interested, please let me know and I will post the info as I did bookmark the page ... just in case.

Debbie,

Hundreds of dollars for vendors to sign up?!  That's really crazy.  I'd have to think this is a no-brainer, that the people organizing the show will get plenty of revenue from the sales they help generate, so how wrong it is that they're asking for so much money from designers!  Designers for the most part aren't rich.

And wholesale buyers getting bargain basement prices on top of the vendors paying a fortune?  That sounds wrong.  Cry

Melanie,

I agree totally, not only are some of us designers not rich, some of us are unemployed trying to earn a living from our designs.

That's why I decided not to waste anyone's time posting the details, unless someone specifically wants to know more about it.

Debbie,

I really don't know any designers who are rich...I'm sure the few exceptions are out there, but I don't know any personally!  Most are like you...they're trying to eke by, doing what they love.  The arts are a cruel industry.  Every once in a while I hear a success story and realize they're the exception to the rule.

I would have thought the festival would be making enough money from sales alone.  Shame on them, trying to make fortunes off of struggling people!  Yell  I wouldn't publish their info either, particularly not for free.  Let them pay someone a large part of those fortunes they charge to put that up on their site.  Like they're going to do that.  Yell

Melanie,

Yes, I was very surprised the fees most definitely seemed to be upside down.  It was rather weird.  But, as you say, it's their loss.

Debbie,

It really is.  They'll learn the hard way that their target audience would be all too happy to pay the bulk of their fees out of sales, not some impossibly high fee beforehand.  it's sad, but their choice.
