Thank you, Melanie! I feel much better today. I am not sure what caused the headaches. The doc thinks it could be a virus... Thank God it has only been 2 days where it was really really bad. I think the time off the office helps a lot, maybe it is only something psychological...

Good job with the jack! Isn't it great when we can fool them so they are really surprised? Cheesy

LOL, thanks! Yeah, and I just felt this great evil satisfaction, LOL, because my husband was expecting to receive that jack at the neighbors' house. I refused to give him that much. I wanted him disappointed until later! And it completely worked.

Hee hee, I showed him!

Hope your yarn is fast to arrive...there's nothing more frustrating than waiting, is there?

Dear Melanie! Yes, my yarn arrived and I just started row 6!

I will of course share pictures. Honestly, this year is the first year I try to make all the presents myself. We have a sort of no-presents-for-Christmas rule, but I started to make an entrelac loop for my sister-in-law and wanted to make something for my mother-in-law, because I am so thankful to her. I ended up thinking, if they get something, I have to make something for everyone. So here is my list:

Father-in-law: dark grey scarf in chess board pattern (WiP)
Mother-in-law: Moebius loop

Sister-in-law 1: a crocheted sunflower

Her boyfriend: No idea yet....

Sister-in-law 2: Knitted entrelac loop (WiP)

Her boyfriend: a pair of socks (WiP)

Grandmother (in-law): candles

There is the big problem which is my boyfriend (I am using the term in-law, although we are not married. We have been together for 16 years, though...). I have no idea what to get him. He doesn't appreciate self-made stuff, so I have to figure out something else. Most likely it will be theater tickets or something similar...

And my direct family - we have not given us presents for years, we hardly ever see each other for the holidays. Although I am making things for the kids, but they are technically birthday presents. The two little ones will get star wars amigurumis (it was their choice) and the elder one (she is 19) will get a belt for her camera for which I have knitted a colorful cover. I thought about crocheting tank slippers for my brother, since he is a soldier. But at the moment, he is quite frustrated with his job (they are cutting a lot of budget and the work is getting increasingly difficult), so I will have to think about that...

For no presents, you've certainly made a great amount of them!

Love all of it...what you did with the colors on the moebius loop is wonderful...what a lovely gift for your MIL!

The sunflower is soooooo cute for your SIL!

The owl candle cozies are adorable, too.

What kind of yarn did you use for those? Is that a wool or cotton?

Definitely empathize with you about your boyfriend. Men are so difficult when it comes to gifts! I've had that trouble with my husband...he doesn't want a scarf. Mittens aren't a good gift for him. Hats...forget it. Sweaters...too heavy. So whatever I get for him has to be store-bought.

Anyway, I think you've done some fantastic work on the gifts you've made, and I'm sure you'll figure out just the right things for the people who are left on your list...you should be soooo proud of what you've accomplished already!

Thank you so much for your feedback! I used a 100% cotton yarn for the candles, so that the cozy can't "melt" away... I even used glass pearls for the eyes, so there should not be any unwanted accident, I hope! Wink

The colors of the loop are due to the yarn I used. There is great lace yarn with a long color change in some online stores in Germany or Switzerland, so I did not have to worry about changing the colors myself! Wink

The sunflower is actually a bought pattern, it is the sunflower from Aliens vs. Plants... I wasn't too creative there, too, I just followed the instructions. The only thing which was really my idea was placing the lady bug on one of the leaves. It is hard to see on the picture, though.

I have to browse the photo albums, I would love to see some of your work, too! :*

Cotton yarn is such an excellent choice for candle cozies.

And glass for the eyes is also best...neither of those materials will melt.

Plus they turned out so beautifully!

Love the self-striping on the loop...it looks as if you planned it the way it turned out, with the darker green on the outside, the white in the center and the yellow and light green between the darker green and white.

LOL, I couldn't do that if I tried!

The sunflower turned out well, and now that I know it's there, I can see the ladybug. Love the placement on that.

Feel free to look at my work in the albums...most of it is older, mainly a lot of cross stitch and some beadweaving/knitting/crochet. I really should start an album of newer work! Have made a lot of things recently, but my photographs are terrible.

Hi all!

I was a bit busy these last weeks. But the good news is: One more Christmas present is ready, the scarf for my FIL:

There is also another long-term-project I managed to finish. My niece wanted a strap for her camera in rainbow colors. I think I could fulfil that wish pretty well, we'll see what she has to say about it when I give it to her next week:

This is the whole thing. It is a bought strap so that it keeps its form and keeps the camera from falling to the ground and break. I knitted a cozy for the strap in broken seed stitch with 8 different colors.

Here is a more detailed view:

I then crocheted the cozy together with slip stitches, which gives me this backside, which is also not so bad, I think:

I also have decided on the last missing present. The fiancé of my SIL will get gloves. So I have 3 more presents to finish, 2 are already on their way pretty good.

I also made some progress with my blanket. I made the first color change and I am delighted how neat that looks:

Tunisian crochet is real fun! But since I don't get the chance to work on it that often, it will be a looooong time until I finish this project - I am now at 13 from 400 rows! Wink

I hope you are all well and are getting along with the cold and grey weather - at least Vienna has cooled down quite a bit in the last days. But this is normal for November - Santa's on his way!

Love all of it!

The texture on your FIL's scarf is wonderful! Also love the camera strap cozy. What a fantastic idea, to take a purchased camera strap, which would be plenty strong, and add a cozy, which makes it attractive!

And excellent progress on your blanket.

You say 13 rows now, but you know, that will fly by and before you know it, you'll be over halfway done!

Lucky for us, we've had a slight reprieve from the cold...it went from blustery and too cold to seasonably warm. But that won't last very long. LOL, I'm not a fan of winter, and frankly, I find s-n-o-w to be the most offensive four letter word of all!

Hope your weather doesn't get super cold.
