Astrid,
Argh, yes, you're
exactly right
- it's because you're on the phone. The problem is phones/mobile devices have very limited capacities, and in early testing, we discovered things would get "stuck" or not operate properly. Like boldface, italics, underscore, etc.
I had tried bold at one point, but it got stuck and nothing would turn it off, so we determined it couldn't be used.
Love your pictures, and I see from your description why it can be so miserable! Hope your snow melted and you haven't had any more. I don't blame you for not liking snow...to me, that's
the
most offensive four letter word of all!
Thanks, hon
...we did finish finally (argh, as I said above, it was awful!
) but at least we hit the deadline exactly and won't have to return. So we won't...not ever! I hope your friend doesn't have a terrible time like we did and things go
far
smoother for her than it did for us.
I'm very sorry to hear you have chapped hands, too, particularly in the dry winter weather.
I have dry hands normally, but not like this, sigh...they're all torn up and horrible looking.
Do they sell Udder Cream where you are? I now swear by it. My hands aren't 100% healed, but they're far better than they were. My hands looked awful before the Udder Cream. It's sold in a jar with what looks like cow spots on the label. If they don't have that, one of my friends suggested cocoa butter, and I do know that works, as I did use that once a long time ago for dry skin.
One other thing about the Udder Cream, if you can find it (not Udder Ointment, which is different)...it's not greasy.
I
love
that. I can wear it at night and not worry about getting grease on the covers.

Astrid,
It's ok to look at, as long as you don't have to go out in it, right?
We've been lucky so far, even if our temps are unseasonably cold. (Ok, it's cold for us) I feel for those of you who have the real cold. I really don't mind the snow so much, if the temps don't drop enough to turn it to ice, and I don't have to shovel it.
Melanie, I swear by lavender oil. I've used it for years on my chapped hands, but I also use it on all skin wounds. Sometimes I'll mix it with tea tree oil if there is risk of infection. We even use lavender oil on psoriasis, which runs in our family.
Pork and black eyed peas are both considered prosperity foods, so southern tradition dictates black eyed peas and ham on New Years for a prosperous year.
In addition, 2015 is a year of 8. Numerologiocally, 8 is a number of prosperity.

Had to go out to work today... Since my pictures, snow went away and came back twice! Just this afternoon, it began to snow again. But they forecast a really warm day this weekend which should hopefully clear the streets once and for all! (Or at least until next winter...)
I certainly unterstand the limitations of the mobile use. I think it is a wise decision to leave all the functions out!
I do not know about udder cream... I have been meaning to buy cotton gloves for the night. Didn't get them at the drugstore today and hope I will be more lucky at the pharmacy tomorrow!
So glad to hear you are done, Melanie! I hope you will soon be able to enjoy your new place fully!
Craft wise, I am currently working in a hoodie for myself which is a loooot of work and in baby booties for a friend of mine. Hope to be able to show you pictures soon!!
Have a great time!

Sherry,
Lucky you, not having to shovel snow! I've shoveled a few times this season and am
done
with that.
Unfortunately, though, I'm probably not done with that.
Oh, wow, I wish I'd known about lavender oil before I started using the Udder Cream!
Not that I'm complaining...Udder Cream is really good, but I want to remember lavender oil for next time my hands are chapped...I bet it's sooooooooo pleasant because it also smells so good!
Hmmm, so it sounds like all your kids have to do is carry some black eyed peas and ham around...and the rest will take care of itself for the year 2015!
As long as their friends don't get too close.

Astrid,
I hope your snow goes away completely and doesn't return for quite some time!
Thanks for understanding about the differences for mobile devices.
We really tried to make it a similar experience as desktop computing, but realized it simply couldn't be done.
I've heard of using cotton gloves, but here they don't sell them anywhere. I'd love to have my hands covered in moisturizer all night! Glad you can get the cotton gloves there.
Thank you, hon
...we really do want to enjoy, which we'll be able to do after things are put away (and some parts of the house are repaired or changed). Our place is a total rehab, so there's no end to the repairs that have to be done. And it's pretty old, as well, so there are certain modernizations that are sorely needed...like a lot more outlets than we have!
Can't wait to see your pics!
The hoodie sounds like fun...I just finished some baby booties right before we moved, which I gave as a gift to a friend.
Enjoy!

Astrid,
Your winter is almost over? How fortunate, ours is just really beginning. We'll be pretty much done with it by March unless we have an unseasonably cold spring.
Poor Melanie will have to deal with it until around May, and sometimes it stretches into June.
Can't wait to see pics of your hoodie, I want to make one for my grand daughter but can't find a pattern I like.
I'm finishing up some bonnets and booties for my DIL's sister, just like the one's I've already posted. Because her sister has to have everything she does.

Melanie,
I'm grateful we don't have to shovel snow, my back couldn't take it. My poor hubby has a metal rod in his leg and the cold causes him some serious pain too, but he'd go out and shovel if it needed doing.
I sure hope your rehab goes smoother than ours, we've been working on it since 2005 as we can pay for it. Sometimes you just have to stick a pot under the leaky roof and not sweat it.

Sherry,
Wow, so glad your winter is pretty much over by March! We say March...but it's snowed way later than that, as you know.
I remember the one year we had snow several times in April, it warmed up to 93 degrees for three days, then the temps plummeted back to the mid to low 30s, where they remained for at least a month.
So you're not kidding about May...June usually isn't quite so bad, but May can be hit or miss.
Ugh, isn't snow shoveling the worst?! Glad you and your hubby don't have to do it. We had snow again today, so tomorrow will be another shoveling day.
Had to go out in freezing cold, blowing snow, and bring the little one to the vet.
I'm sorry your rehab is taking so long, but completely understand being in that position.
That's where we are now and where we were with the previous place...it needed
everything
, and we just couldn't do it. I remember the plastic container hubby put in the cabinet to catch the leaking from the roof.
When we'd get bad rain, he'd empty it out every few hours or more often, depending.
Hoping the things here will get done faster...but not holding my breath. It's only two of us, and I'm not the one who knows how to do this stuff.

Melanie,
That's one of the things I love here, shorter and milder winters.
I can remember one year, up in your area, when we had a blizzard on Mother's day, ack!
We are expecting freezing rain tonight, but my son doesn't work so I won't have to go out. The ground temps are still above freezing, so it won't stay.
We have the boys to help (son and grandson), and they'll try to do anything we ask. Try being the key word, we have to know everything and walk them through it.

Sherry,
While I don't envy you your summers of heat and humidity, I do envy your mild, short winters.
Ugh, a blizzard on Mother's day is way late in the season!
Glad you didn't have to go out in freezing rain.
And that nothing would have stayed frozen, anyway!
It's nice that you have the help...sigh, and not so nice that you have to explain everything in great detail.
LOL, though...do you rent them out?

Melanie,
I'll take the hot, humid summers over those frigid winters any day of the week.
My grandson would be more than happy to rent himself out.

Sherry,
I understand...for me it's 50/50...because I hate hot and cold.
LOL, well, send your grandson along, then!
