Newbie to this site, questions
April 9, 2014 at 8:22:34 PM

Hello all. I have a jpg that I converted to a crochet pattern on this site. However, I am not sure what to do with the pattern. It's blocks on a grid that I don't understand how to use in a crochet pattern. Can anyone offer some suggestions for me? Thank you!

Hi, and welcome!  Smile

The pattern graphs of your images are for you to crochet into whatever you want...an afghan, if the image is large, or perhaps a dishcloth or potholder if it's very small.  It's really up to you...we just provide the conversion method...the rest is all your own imagination!  Smile

You could, for instance, find a very simple blank single crochet pattern for a pillow, sweater or vest and work a small enough design for one of those into the pattern.  Or if you have a very large chart that would be unsuitable for pillows, sweaters or vests, make an afghan or wallhanging with your design.

Hope that helps!  Smile

Hello, and welcome.

In general, the grid is one stitch for each square. It's geared for single crochet or tunisian, so (for instance) if you were to use a double crochet, the proportions would be a bit off.

Hope that helps a little. Smile

Sherry,

Oooh, thank you for pointing that out!  Kiss  I completely forgot to mention the one to one relation of blocks to stitches, and that's the most important thing!  Embarassed

Melanie,

Well you know we all have those moments. Wink

The Pattern wizard is the only one I know of that uses a one to one relation, and generates the grid for you. Smile

Sherry,

LOL, I have those moments...every moment!  SurprisedWink

Wow, really, the only program?  I'm not aware of whatever else might be out there.
