Quick way to translate grid without counting?
March 20, 2014 at 2:24:29 AM

Hello!

I am new here, and I LOVE the pattern creator. I crochet, and have just made a grid of a blanket, that I am so keen to make now thanks to the creator.

Is there a quick way to count the stitches though and translate to words?  e.g. pattern to read like -
stitch 5, change to (colour) sitch 10, change to (colour)... hope I am making sense.

I figure I will just go across and count them all, just wondered if that was the quickest way.

Thanks so much!  Amy x

Hi and thanks for the input.

A word chart is coming but not ready yet.  I still have almost a hundred new features being added and everytime someone asks a question, I move the related item up on my to-do list.

I'm glad you're having fun with it... that's why we put it out there!

And if you do create/stitch something from a patternWizard-created pattern/chart, by all means be sure to get a photo of it.  We'd love to see it.  (We'll have a new area to post photos of finished products and will be announcing a contest in a bit.)

Thank you for your quick response Terry!  I honestly never knew such a thing existed, so even having the chart is a big excitement for me. I sat last night and wrote out the first 50 rows, lol, took me a while, but your chart was great, and I used the separated stitches to count easier.

I am making a blanket with a picture on it, and will definately post the finished product!  Thank you again so much, cant wait to see the new inclusions Smiley xx

Thanks!  I love it!  This is the first finished item I've seen that was created from a patternWizard pattern!

We'll also be setting up an area for people to post photos of their finished items.

So again, thanks for the post!

I just joined today & very interested in knowing when this feature will be available too. I have a pattern and it was exactly the way you're speaking of, in a way. The rows were numbered and the colors you select are either in the color of the thread or the code you give the colors. For example: 'C' means "color" Ex: Row 1: C 1/ 5 (means "stitches"), C2/3, C5/7, etc, until that row was completed, then you start row 2, etc. It did all the specified rows and was very easy to read. It took about 20 pages but it was worth it. I'm waiting for this to happen with stitchwizard. I really like this program.

Hi!

Unless something else comes up, the word chart is currently second (of about 95 things) on my to-do list.

I'm currently working on and testing a new option that will get rid of the pdf pages with just a few rows or columns.  I hope to turn on a non-beading version of this as soon as next week.

Once this is done, I'll add the word chart option.

I'm not exactly sure yet when this will be but I would certainly think we're talking a few weeks, not months.  After all, I have a lot of new features to add. Smile

Hi.
I was just wondering if you have started to work on the word chart yet? Still anxiously waiting for it to become available on the stitchwizard so I can do a crochet photo picture without all the symbols and colors, just written instructions. i love your site!!! :-)

Hi.  Yes, I have begun the word chart work.  I don't know yet when I'll have it available but beading, crochet, and knitting word charts are being developed.

There's been a learning curve on my end since I'm not a stitcher.  Maybe when all this is done I'll take up beading, crochet, cross stitch, and knitting all at the same time! Laughing

Seriously, I find that I need to learn more each time I begin to add a new feature.

So please hang in there.  It'll be coming.
