Increasing pattern size?

Currently the cross-stitch patterns are limited to 150 stitches across. Is there any hope of having that increased? I have a picture I'd love to do in an 11x14, but it looks like the biggest I can get with that stitch count is slightly over 8x10 on 14 count fabric.

Hi, and thanks for writing... and asking.

The program itself actually has no upper limits.  In testing, I once created a pattern that was 2500 stitches across (wouldn't that be almost 15 feet across with 14 count?! Laughing).  I've set the limits the way they are simply to limit each block of memory that is used to create a pattern.

The good news for you is that I just upgraded you to a "premium" patternWizard user level so your new limit is now 300 stitches across and 1000 stitches down.  Remember that you'll need to be logged in to get these new limits.  Section 6 should now show "You can create a pattern with up to 300 stitches across."

Let me know if this solves your problem, and feel free to request new features!  I'll be adding a bunch of new things as time permits and am always looking for new ideas.

Also, with the new limits there are chances that you might bump into an upper memory limit that I have set so if you do have any problems with creating larger patterns, let me know and I'll also raise the memory limits.  I keep an eye on memory usage and bump it up as necessary.  (Just did that today).

Thanks so much! I actually solved my current problem by turning the picture sideways and uploading it so that it was longer instead of wider (so 11x14 instead of 14x11) and it fit that way. haha But glad to know I can make bigger ones in the future without turning them! Smiley

Hi.

I just set you up so you can produce larger patterns.  Your new limit is now 300 stitches across and 1000 stitches down.  You'll need to be logged in to get these new limits.  Section 6 should now show "You can create a pattern with up to 300 stitches across."

Have fun!

Terry,

How can I be upgraded to a premium user so that I can have access to 300 stitch width (or more)?  I guess if I needed it wider than the 300w (since it offers 1000 st vertical), I could rotate the print, save it as a jpg and deal with it that way.

Janice,

All done.  You just need to ask.  You're now set as a "Premium" user and can now generate patterns up to 300 across and 1000 down.  (Maybe we should rename "Premium User" to "Advanced User"?)

Just a summary:

User Type Across Down
Non-members & Members who are not logged in 100 300
Logged-in members 150 700
Premium users 300 1,000

At some point I may be raising the logged-in member limits and there's still discussion on raising the premium user limits.

Thanks again for using the freePatternWizard!

Hi.

Sure.  That's one advantage of reading through the messages!  I just upgraded your account so now you can create patterns up to 300 across.

Have fun!

Hi

Would it be possible to also have my stitch limit increased to 300? My husband will hate me, but I plan on doing a large crochet portrait of him..LOL.. Thank heaps. Smiley

Anna and Kazzee,

Terry will take care of that tomorrow.  Smile  We just got finished moving all of our sites to different servers, so it's taken all of his attention!

Anna and Kazzee,

Sorry about the delay!  I've been upgrading the infrastructure, making room for major web site expansion over the next year.

We have lots planned!

Last night (this morning) I just finished migrating all 22 of our web sites over to new 16-CPU servers.

You've possibly seen delays and accessing issues since Monday morning.  Since the move to new servers is complete, the accessing issues should now be gone.  (Of course as soon as I say that, something will crop up! Laughing )

Anyway, I just upgraded both of you so you can now make patterns 300 wide as described in the chart a few messages back.

Hope this helps and now I need to catch up on all the support messages that fell behind over the past week.

Terry
