They do want to be made into beautiful, sparkly things!  Sigh, wish I had time for all of them.  Sure you'll agree that there aren't enough hours in a day.

I don't want a clone.  Too many arguments over who gets to do the fun things!

What I want...is a wife.    Someone to do all of the drudgery.  Cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, all of the things that hold no interest for me.  She should not be interested in knitting, crocheting or beadweaving, though she can have plenty of interest in sewing, since it gives me the willies.  She can seam up all of my crocheted and knitted stuff that gets worked flat.

Since she would be my wife, she would expect no pay. 

Now I guess I just have to find a place where the laws are amenable to this. 

Either that or get wife training for hubby.  He knows the cooking part, anyway.

Hey, don't knock it...it could happen!

I'm guessing you'd also want her to do your seaming for your flat crocheted items?

Buttons, sigh.  I can still see well enough to sew them on, and I'm the one who ends up doing it.  I've taught hubby my neat shortcut seamstress trick numerous times, but he never seems to remember how to do it. 

I agree...if I had a wife, I'd let her use my sewing machine anytime!    Sewing is a hobby I would allow her.    Hee hee, think of all of the nice clothes you and I would have if we could convince our husbands to allow us wives! 

So, bummer...I have a gorgeous button-down shirt that has pretty leaf-shaped buttons...one of a kind, of course, and I've worn the damn thing for maybe about 2 hours, tops...lost one of the sleeve buttons.    Guessing it fell off somewhere in my sleeve and ended up on the ground or the floor of some store or building.  Not in my home, of course, unless it's in some very obscure place, as I haven't tripped on it. 

There are no extra buttons on the inside front of it.  Would you suggest removing the buttons and replacing them all with something else?  I definitely wouldn't be able to match these anywhere.  Truthfully, they're kind of a pain to button.  Though it's too bad, because they're very pretty. 

See, there's a job I would give to my wife, if I had one.  Sigh.

I know...I was heartbroken! 

I'm going to do one of two things.  Either bite the bullet and spend (probably) too much for 8 novelty buttons at JoAnn's (perhaps 10 to have two spares), or I'm now thinking maybe I'll beadweave some small leaves that are similar to the leaves that are on there now.  Except they'll be made more like shank buttons than flat buttons like these are.  Oh, well.

The color will be difficult to match, especially from my bead desert.  Either I have to trust online pictures and hold my breath, or go to a store that's not really close.  Technically, there's a store in my area, but their selection is so poor for what I do, they probably wouldn't have anything...though it is worth a try.  Either that or I'll just change the color.  There's kind of a goldish color in the thing, so maybe I'll just go my own way and use metallic gold beads...they won't match, but hopefully the color will add a little something, rather than detracting.  These buttons do have a shine to them...but they're more of a red/rust color.

I can definitely repurpose the buttons.  I can use some beads and turn them into shank buttons for beaded projects, anyway!  I have 7 buttons, so can make 7 bracelets or whatever!

I went to the bead store and bought two vials of beads that are a lot more red than the buttons...closest match I could find.  The vials are (guessing) around 30 grams and I'm guessing one will be returned.  They were $5 apiece, as opposed to, ouch, at least $24 for 8 lousy buttons from the fabric store!  So I now have to invent something.  Will try to do this sooner, rather than later, as I'd like to be back to wearing the thing!  And I'm hoping maybe to develop a pattern to sell from this.  I'm going to try to weave a leaf like the button leaves.  I've not seen anything like it, even though I own about a bazillion books on beadweaving flowers and such!  Also, I have to go tinier than anything else I've ever seen.  Most of the books want you to actually, um, see the things!  These buttons probably aren't even an inch tall.

It's not a great price for those beads, but like you, I can never tell the accuracy of colors online, so better to go with what I could see.    I did bring the blouse with me.

Oh, yeah, craft supplies are sooooo expensive!    You can see that $10, which will probably end up being $5 after I'm done, is very little, compared to $24 or more from the fabric store.  And I guess the good thing is that even though the local store has such limited supplies (and technically is not all that cheap), the advantage is that I could still match by eye and get something as quickly as I did!

I agree...while I much prefer to buy online, especially from people who I know and have great amount of supplies and excellent customer service (like Cindy the Beadlady!), I'd have to go back and forth to find the right color for something like this...and wait for supplies to arrive by mail, too.  This way, I've got them in hand right away and can work on them, developing my pattern as I go, as well.  Limited stock and lucky enough to find a decent color, but now I don't have to wait and then try other colors if those particular ones don't work.  And I don't have to order 4 or 5 at once to try to find a match.

Thanks!  I hope I can sell that soon!    It's not going to be a difficult thing to figure out if what I'm picturing in my head is going to fly.    It's going to look very much like the buttons.  And then I'll have seven buttons for something else!

Thanks...I hope I'm right, too!  I would just think that with 30 grams of beads it should be plenty for at least 8 leaves, if not 10...they're not huge, after all!

I bet the price from Herrschner's is much better than from any box store.  The box stores really aren't generally cheap.  

Hahahahahaha, I love your trickiness!  This way you can say, "But honey, your wife picked out those colors!"

I would order from Herrshner's for sure with that price difference!  That's substantial!

The other nice thing is you can get all of the same dye lot.  The big box stores are great when you don't have anywhere else to shop for yarns, but they leave a lot to be desired with dye lots.    It can be near impossible to find more than two of the same dye lot!

LOL, love it...absolutely, don't give them any recourse to be mad at you...hey, hon, your wife picked it out...so sorry you don't like it, dear!
