I've been thinking of something even simpler, if I can find this fiber...picking up a row of scs at the very bottom of it.  I think that would make it pop!  Wouldn't that be cute?

After all, it is a pretty plain thing...has to be, I suppose, because of those stupid polka dots, but what if there was a cute edging that tied the whole thing together?

Glad you like the idea!    It won't stop me from wearing it in the meantime...though am hating the idea of sewing this on the sweater, sigh. 

I can't imagine that the care instructions would be terribly exotic, can you?  It would have to be a synthetic fiber...can't be a wool or cotton or other natural fiber.  So even if it's a different synthetic (probably is), the care instructions should be fairly similar.

You're right...it is finished enough to sew it on!    Groan.  I didn't think I would be so not wanting to do it as I am now...had figured on feeling a small amount of resistance...but this is crazy.    I have to just get in there and do it already.

Yeah, I guess the "good" thing is the synthetics are pretty similar for care, no mystery.  Though you're right about not assuming...just because the care is the same, it doesn't mean there won't be other problems.    The yarns could pill terribly, or worm, or have some other problem that may not show up until after washing. 

You know, maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way.  Maybe instead of just making this a ho-hum old sweatshirt bottom, once it's sewn on, I should pick up some stitches from where it's sewn on and perhaps do some kind of netted thing...thinking...it's got a stupid pocket on the front, and I don't care...I could just cover it up.  Maybe the thing to do would be to get it sewn on for the purpose of remaking it entirely!  Ooh, now I want to get it sewn on!

LOL, sigh, I'm still not really looking forward to the "sewing it on" part, sigh, but anything to snazz it up after!  It's seen better days, but I can't bear to waste a perfectly good partial-sweatshirt.  Sigh, got the sewing pins all ready. 

You'll love the colors I got for the second go of the cowl.  Purple and a "grape fizz" variegated!

I think you'll like the color combo!    I can't use a double strand of variegated (for obvious reasons), because the color variations will get totally lost, but hopefully the variations won't get lost with the strand of purple along with it.  I like the purple alone, but it's a very strong one.  Almost too strong by itself.

Oooh, I think you should try the scarf with variegated!  I love the way variegated yarns look with different stitch patterns.  They don't go so well with cables and such, but they go quite nicely with textured or even lacy patterns!

I know you love the purples just as much as I do...who couldn't?! 

Oooh, that purple suit sounds beautiful!    Years ago, I had a purple trench coat.  With a removable hood.  Loved that trench coat!  Never got tired of wearing it.  Got me through many rainstorms.

Bet that purple suit went with soooooooo many beautiful blouses! 

How about using the Grape Fizz for the scarf?  It's my fave of all of the RH WW variegated yarns Walmart carries.  It's got the most purple in it.

My second fave is the Monet...I had a zillion skeins of those pre-flood...I had planned to make a nice, long sweater from that colorway, but lost all of the skeins to flooding.    It doesn't have as much (if any) purple, but it's a very pretty variegated colorway.

Can't wait to see how the scarf turns out!

I hope your JoAnn's carries the Grape Fizz!    I'm kind of surprised our Walmart does, since they got rid of so many RH colors...but then, they seem to have reinstated a few, so perhaps that was one of them.

I understand...I like to choose my own colors, rather than using something someone else has chosen.  LOL, sort of like veggies.  I hate choosing pre-mixed veggies, because they usually throw in something I really don't like.  And with yarn, they'll often throw in some green I don't like, along with the purples, pinks and blues I like.    Unfortunately, though, sometimes the only way to get the effect of a variegated or self-striping yarn is to have it mixed in a yarn, because if I do it myself, it can look purposeful...and there are extra ends to work in.    So sometimes it's a trade-off.

It sounds to me like your pattern will show the variegated colors off very nicely!

Awwww!    Yeah, in my experience, veggie combos are hit and miss...and usually more miss than hit. 

Isn't that Grape Fizz beautiful?!    And out of curiosity I looked at the other colors on the RH site a few days ago, and there's a wonderful purple variegated Walmart doesn't carry, sigh.    Oh, well, at least they do have the Grape Fizz!

With such pretty colors, I'm sure the scarves will be a great hit for Yule!
