Hello Hello!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Penny and I live in Salt Lake City, UT.  I'm a computer technician by trade but I'm unemployed at the moment.  I'm divorced with no children, but I do have six guinea pigs and six hamsters, along with one very spoiled cat!  It's nice to see so many cat lovers here.

I've been beading for about five years and consider myself and advanced beginner.  I can't compete with the talent I've seen so far here, so I'll just envy all of you and aspire to come close to your level of experience and creativity.  Seed beads are what I love the most, because you can do just about anything with them.  I've never made anything on a loom; I enjoy making beaded beads and almost any kind of jewelry.  I look forward to chatting with and learning from all of you.

Happy Beading!

Penny,

Welcome!  Smiley  What a great avatar you have...is this a photo of your darling?

How does the cat get along with the guinea pigs and the hamsters?  Sounds like you're doing plenty of "parenting" of the fur children!  (LOL, my favorite kind of children!)

Seed beads are my favorite, too.  Smiley  IMO, they're the most versatile, and they look so stunning.  Feel free to post photos of your work anytime...this site is for beaders of all levels, and I'm sure your work is terrific!

Hi!

Yes, the avatar is a picture of my baby boy, Shadow (after whom I named myself).  He's 8 years old.  He doesn't bother the guinea pigs at all and would play with them if I let him.  I have a baby guinea pig who turned three weeks old on Monday.  She was born in my house.  Cutest thing ever!  Sometimes Shadow will sit on top of a (guinea pig) cage and paw at one of them but they aren't afraid, and he never brings out his claws.  He pretty much ignores the hamsters except for one who is a very small (teeny tiny) variety called a Roborovski.  I've heard they smell very much like mice to a cat.  But she's safe from him in a very secure cage.  He's a good cat.

Please forgive us, other beaders, for talking about our pets so much!

Seed beading is such a relaxing thing for me to do!  I test patterns for a designer sometimes and she says I'm a great help to her.  Beaded beads are something I love to make.  I also have a thing for long dangly earrings.  Seed beads mixed with pearls and/or crystals are my favorite things to play with, and I do very well with geometric shapes.

How do we get our fellow stitchboard beaders to chat with us?  I like this forum and think the site is very well done.  I think there's potential for a lot of good things here.  :-)

Penny,

That's a wonderful pic of Shadow...he's gorgeous!  I'm glad he doesn't bother the guinea pigs or the hamsters.  (Good that you keep the Roborovski safe, though!  No doubt that scent would be too enticing for Shadow to ignore...ours wouldn't be able to resist, either.)

How cool to test patterns for a designer!  Beaded beads...those are soooooooo addictive, aren't they?  Because they're usually small and don't tend to use a lot of beads, they're great for those leftovers from other projects.  LOL, I can tell we're going to get along great, because I love long dangly earrings, too!  Smiley

Thank you so much for your kind words about this forum and site.  Smiley  It would be great to be able to chat with more people about my loves - beads - and cats, LOL!  (Can't forget the cats!)
