New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

So I just made a pattern and I want to make sure its not too big. It says its 150 wide x 170 high. I'm just so bad and thinking of sizes in my head.
There's apparently been some update to software that has caused this. I'll be doing more testing tomorrow. I hope to resolve this either by making changes to the freePatternWizard, or posting a setting change that can be made to get it working.
In the meantime, if you tell it to "Email pattern to myself" in section 7, it'll attach your pattern to an email.
I'll post an update in the next couple days...

Welcome!
First, I'm
wondering if you're measuring your pattern according to the width
of the pages on which it's printed to get the dimensions? This is
actually not the measurement you're looking for.
What you're looking for is your gauge, based on the size
hook, the stitch (filet blocks in this case), the fiber you're
using and, well, you! No two people crochet exactly the same,
so what you need to do is use the hook you've chosen and the fiber
and then crochet at least a 4 inch x 4 inch swatch in filet, using
both empty and full blocks. When you know your gauge, e.g., how
many blocks per inch, you'll then know how many blocks in
"stitches" and "rows" you'll need for the measurements of your
windows. (If you find you're not able to get the result you want -
say, your blocks are a bit too large, you can go down one hook size
and swatch again.)
This is the measurement
you'll need to know how many blocks you'll need for your particular
windows. Hope that helps!
That's a beautiful image and will make stunning curtains
in filet!
Thanks so much Melanie.
What sort
of home improvements do you have going on? I don't mind doing them
usually, but I am not working on them just for my own place, I am
helping my dad renovate some apartments so we could rent them
out.
My latest update is a bit... late
But I am at the spot I was on Sunday,
when I usually take the progress photos. This Monday was probably
the first day in a month where I didn't work on it for at least a
little while. So next weeks progress might be less. But last week I
got to do more than I expected, so that is nice.
Filling in the little gaps in big
patches of solid colour takes so long. A lot of colour swaps. One
thread gets you sometimes only 1-3 stitches. Working really hard to
keep it tidy in the back too. Not always succeeding Might take a
picture of that next time too.
So I just made a pattern and I want to make sure its not too big. It says its 150 wide x 170 high. I'm just so bad and thinking of sizes in my head.
Piddy,
You're nothing less than
AMAZING! I'm so psyched for you and hope you're
able to finish in January (perhaps earlier?)!
I still can't
imagine the patience this takes. I wouldn't be able to do this, not
even a fraction of this size. The detail is absolute perfection!
